goodbye
divebomb played their last gig on thursday 29th november 2007. we decided that, after 12 years together, it was time to move gracefully on to other music, family and work commitments and we remain good friends.
we want to thank our families and friends for all their support over the years, especially those who have gone out of their way to help us out. to mention but a few: Niamh, Aine and Mary, Derek Kelly, Noel O'Dwyer, Gavin Glass, Kevin Jennings, Matt Lunson, Marianne Archibald and Joe Deegan.
dave, rob and alan
divebomb
was a three-piece dublin band comprising dave egan on guitar, keyboard
and vocals, rob maguire on bass guitar, korg and vocals and alan
davis on acoustic guitar, drums and vocals. they have been described
as powerpop but their sound moved through the
genres of punk, pop, indie and more recently a fusion of electronica
with indie rock.
formed in 2000, they were regulars on the gig scene around dublin.
their debut album the self-titled divebomb contained
nine songs which showcased the many different styles and influences
of the band and received good reviews from hot press magazine,
in dublin and the rte guide. the album was recorded and produced
by the band themselves and the whole experience gave the band
an insight into honing and directing their own sound. the album
was accompanied by a video for the song stupid.
In spite of the quality of their recorded material divebombs
reputation was very much that of a live band. their performances
were tight, dynamic and energetic punctuated only briefly quieter
moments.
